Hilton Head Island Fishing  - Off The Hook Fishing Charters
7/22/11 Pic Of The Day!
Turned out to be a beautiful morning just a little steamy out there. The water clarity is still pretty
muddy from all the wind we have been getting late in the afternoons but we had a few good shots on
the fly this morning and also caught a few nice sharks as well. Pictured above my client Mark Kirsten
from California with his first redfish caught on the fly!

Here are some nice redfish with my clients from the past few days caught on low and high tide flats
surrounding Hilton Head Island. The shark fishing has also been absolutely Off The Hook as well on
all my last few trips out there and today we also got a few nice spanish mackerel to the boat to!

The past few days have been a bit challenging out there with the strong winds and dirty water.
The sharks were the only thing biting yesterday and I saw a few redfish so I knew right where
to go today and we crushed em' this morning. Pictured above are some nice pic's of my clients
some great catches the last few days. The weather and water clarity look to be getting better
the next few days so I look forward to chasing some mackerel and hopefully some tarpon!

The Darby family had some pretty nasty conditions to deal with today with full moon tides along with
20-25 mph east winds and I wasn't really expecting to see many fish due to the nasty conditions but
was really surprised how many fish we saw and actually caught a few really nice redfish out of the grass
flats. We started off catching a few nice sharks and finished with some good tailing redfish action. It
turned out to be a great trip on a pretty nasty day!

It was what we call blowing stink out there today! The winds were howling out of the east at
20 mph and it was a little bit bumpy. When the wind blows that hard you have to just park it in
a creek to get out of the wind and thats just what we did. Turned out to be a great shark trip
catching five different species of sharks like black tip, bull, bonnet, reef and the rare hammer -
head shark. Pictured above top left Andrew and his Dad Doug holding a bonnet and a black tip.
Top right Andrew with a baby hammer head. It's hard to believe this shark will grow to be 10ft!

The spanish mackerel bite was on fire today  just a few miles out and my Client Jim Williams caught several
nice spanish like this one pictured on my  light spinning outfits. The action was nonstop with the mackerel
hitting the live baits up on the surface right behind the boat. Unfortunately we had to cut the trip a
little short by a hour because a big thunderstorm pushed offshore and chased us in.
