It only took 10 minutes and we hooked up to this beast of a cobia pictured above early this morning!
What a great way to start the day catching my biggest cobia of the year so far. The big cobia happened
to eat two baits and Jonathan and his father Cliff battled the big fish together on two separate rods!
We boated the fish and both hooks were in the cobia's mouth. We stayed busy afterward catching a bunch
of sharks and lost a jumping black tip shark close to 80 pounds. What a great trip!

Red Fish In The Rapids! This is one of those things I don't know if I have ever witnessed before…?
My good buddy Byron and I went to a spot to have a little afternoon fun with the fly rods and were
blown away when we saw dozens of 20-30 pound redfish in a frenzy waiting for 8-10 inch  baitfish to
come there way. The video is amazing and the fish I ended up catching is my largest red ever on the fly!

Great cobia trip today! My clients Craig and VJ caught 5 nice cobia and this one pictured was the
biggest of the day! Craig and VJ fished me last year as well in the fall and had a great trip catching bull
redfish in October. It's always nice to have lucky clients!

Good things happen if you put your time in! That is exactly what happened this morning with Allen
and his wife Lyne. We stayed busy the entire morning catching sharks and rays but were hoping for
a cobia to show up and with only a few minutes left in the trip we hooked up to this cobia pictured
and another cobia that was even bigger that unfortunately got off. The larger fish was a big female
and this one pictured was the male. It's not uncommon to hook a male and female at the same time
because it's spawning season and the big females are full of eggs and are on there way into the inland
waterways to drop those eggs and are usually accompanied by several male fish. I would have liked to
catch the big female but in a way I am glad she got off and will have a chance reproduce and make
many more little cobia!

Happy Mother's Day! I had a trip early this morning with a nice couple from Myrtle Beach and we hooked
up to a nice cobia and unfortunately the fish pulled the hook right at the boat. It was a slow morning
considering how good it has been the past few days but that fishing!... one day they are there and next
day there aren't. I took my wife and daughter out in the afternoon to try for cobia as well but the amount
of boat traffic made the fishing impossible so we just cruised around and had some fun. Its good to take
a break and put the rods down for a change!
