6/15/09 Great Trip

A perfect day. We caught several nice reds and went off shore and caught a bunch of nice spanish mackerel for dinner.

Mark Bragg & his father Jim from Knoxville Tennesee started the day off with a nice double header on some big reds. We had another double after we let these two fish go and caught several more. The redfish bite has been great.

6/8/09 First Red On The Fly!

Dan Hudson caught his first redfish on the fly with me on Monday morning June 8th. We saw a bunch of fish and had several good opportunities but most of the fish where just out of range or in to much cover for the fly to get to them. In the last hour of the trip we found a new spot and some really nice fish and Dan ended up catching this nice red pictured and lost one other about the same size. What a beautiful day!

6/6/09 Red Fish Tournament

Came up just a little bit to long literally in the third round of the Low Country Redfish Cup. My partner Trent Malphrus and I had a great day catching some nice slot fish. We had four fish in our live well to choose from before the weigh in and picked our two biggest fish. One was 21.75 inches long and 3.75 lbs. and the second fish that was at one point just a hair below the limit of 23 inches and weighing in at a little over 5 pounds.
We measured the fish several times to make sure it was a legal fish and were urged by several witnesses to go for it. Five minutes after our measurement the fish some how pinched out over 23 inches in front of the weigh master by 1/8 of and inch and we could not count it. We would have won the tournament with that fish or with one of the other two fish we decided not to weigh. It was a tough break but it was still a great day!
