What A Jack!! caught by Jeff Romano and his son late this afternoon. This big jack tipped the scales at
30lbs and took a good 20 minutes to land. I still think that pound for pound jack crevalle are one of the
fighting fish we have in our waters. This was only my second jack of the year. It has been a slow year
for the jacks for sure and it looks like they are starting to finally move in. This mornings trip was great as
well and my client Chris Swenson fought a 100 plus pound tarpon for 20 minutes and unfortunately got
away before we could snap some pictures in the boat.

The ocean was as flay as a pancake out there today and the fishing was great. This spanish pictured
above is truly about as big as you catch them around here and they are so much fun to catch on a light
spinning rod. It's hard to believe that this spanish pictured took at least 75 yards of line in a matter of
seconds after it hit the bait! The Nolan family had a blast out there catching a bunch of these guys!

We had some great afternoon action out there in the back water creeks for spanish mackerel, ladyfish
and several species of sharks. Pictured above Winston Richter with a nice spanish and ladyfish. Pictured
below Jon Hudson holds big bonnet head shark that must have took a good 10 minutes to reel in on the
light spinning outfit. Nothing beats light tackle fishing!

We had a great trip with The Gallagher Family this afternoon catching some monster bonnet head
sharks like this pictured above. The morning trip was great as well and my clients must have caught
at least 25 spanish mackerel casting spoons on light tackle! Fun!

Family Fun! with The Toerien Family this afternoon catching several species of nice fish. The action
on the sandbars has been red hot all week and seems to be getting better everyday. Until I hear of
some tarpon catches from other boats it's hard to change the routine because as long as my clients
are busy reeling in fish I am happy and so are they!

The kids are starting to go back to school and so are the fish... especially the spanish mackerel!
Pictured above the Johnson Family who have fished with at least 8-9 times had a great light tackle
trip this morning catching some nice spanish and some good sized sharks and went home with a
gallon bag full of fillets! The afternoon trip with The Danowitz Family who were first timers to Hilton
Head had an action packed trip as well catching some big bonnet head sharks to start and finished
with some spanish and also had some nice fillets to take home to cook up! YUM!

What a day! The ocean was flat as a pancake and I headed out to a nearshore artifical reef and
my clients on both of my trips today caught a bunch of big spanish mackerel on the surface with light
spinning tackle. Another high light of the day was catching this rare triple tail pictured above that I have
only seen a few of this entire year. Hopefully they are starting to move in with the tarpon and jacks!

It was one of those Holy Mackerel afternoons out there today! The Mattingly's pictured above were hooked
up the entire trip to big spanish like this six pounder in the photo.  We kept a few for dinner and released
the rest. When the weather is calm and I can get my boat out a few miles offshore fishing for big spanish
mackerel on light spinning gear is as fun as it gets!

Well shark week has officially ended but it will continue for sure here on Hilton Head until the end of
September when they start to migrate to the South. Here are a few shots from the past few days of
my clients with some well above average size bonnet head sharks and ladyfish which are blast to
catch on the light rods.

All I have to say is WOW! The morning could not have started off any better with my clients and I pulling
up on a school of 50 or more monster redfish like these pictured pushing down a flat in less than a foot of
water!  What we saw this morning is not very common for this time of the year and is usually more common
during the winter months when fish hold in tight schools. My clients caught 4 huge redfish out of the school
before they split up and were not to be found again. Each fish fish put up one heck of an amazing fight on
the light spinning tackle and to top it off we caught several big bonnet head sharks as well 3-4 ft long!

Double Trouble! Logan and Alex were awesome anglers out there this morning and started the morning off
catching these 2 big beautiful redfish that sealed the pic of the day for sure! We keep the rods bent with
big bonnet head sharks after we caught a few redfish. The afternoon trip was action packed with sharks.

This has to be one of my favorite types of fishing with clients or for fun...nothing beats watching a
tailing redfish cruise a flat in search of tiny little fiddler crabs with their head down low and their
tail up in the air. It's just a beautiful act of nature! This fish featured gave us quite a show and
unfortunately got away but you can't catch em' all! The end pic's are of my clients from today and
the last few days with some nice redfish caught in the grass flats. Let's go get some!

What a picture perfect day out here the wind was light and variable and the humidity wasn't bad at all.
Pictured above Thomas Preston and his son Thomas who fished with last August as well caught this nice
redfish to finish up the trip this morning that was tailing in the grass flats. The afternoon trip was incredible
with the Bornot family pictured below who caught at least a dozen monster spanish mackerel like this one
below and several nice sharks.  What a day!

SHARK WEEK! has begun on the Discovery channel and it been going on for quite sometime right here in
Hilton Head. The water temps are in the upper 80's and the # of sharks are plentiful in our creeks, sounds
and around our near shore sandbars and my clients have been having a blast catching them on light tackle!
One of the more abundant inshore sharks is the Bonnet Head Shark pictured below with my clients from
yesterday. Bonnet Head sharks are the small cousin to the great Hammer Head and they cruise the shallows
in the creeks in search of crabs and baitfish or whatever comes there way.If you were to look in the record
books almost all of the biggest Bonnet Head sharks that have been caught in the world are caught right
here in South Carolina!

7/31/11 Pic Of The Month!
The Halloran family just emailed me this pic from last weeks trip when we had a excellent day of
redfishing early in the morning. It was one of my best redfish trips of the month catching good numbers
of keeper fish. Most of the fish I have been catching this summer have been well over the slot and thats not a
bad thing when they are to big to keep.  It's nice to know that those over the slot fish will be there for my
next clients to catch again someday.  These fish pictured were the  perfect keepers though!

Pictured above is Birthday boy Andy Kloss with one of many nice spanish we caught this morning. The
weather was hot and steamy but the action was excellent for spanish, sharks and bluefish on the light tackle.
The Kloss family fished with me last year and we had a great trip catching some nice redfish and this year
I wanted to add a few new species to their list and we did just that.  Turned out to be a great trip!
