6/21-23 Pic's Of The Day!
It's been Hot, Hot, Hot out there!!
The inshore and nearshore action has been red hot on the sandbars with plenty of good size spanish mackerel
ladyfish, bluefish and several species of sharks ranging 2-5ft. Bob Martire and his father who have fished with me
already 3 times this week got into some really nice redfish (last pics) early this morning that were a good 5-12lbs.

What a day yesterday! To start the morning My client Rich Walp was trying to catch his first saltwater fish
on the fly. As I polled him down a flat looking for a school of a redfish a large bonnet head shark was cruising
the flat and I told him to cast to the shark and wham! the shark was on. Unfortunately the hook got fouled in
the sharks gills during the fight. Had the hook stayed in the sharks mouth it would have been a world record!!
He also  ended up catching his first redfish and flounder on the fly. Not Bad!

Yesterday afternoon My client Fred Newman and his son had the trip of a lifetime with non stop action catching
black tip sharks and big spanish mackerel on the surface. The high light of the trip came as a surprise to me about
a hour into the trip Fred was holding his rod and yelled "Tarpon" I couldn't believe when I looked up and saw the 50
pound taron dancing in the air at a spot where a tarpon had not been hooked or caught in 20 years!! He fought the
tarpon for a hour on my lightest rod on the boat (watch the video!) His catch was one my all time light tackle fights!

A mixed bag of fish the last few days and I cant even begin to tell you how many sharks my clients
have also caught! I can't complain about the sharks they are a blast to catch on the light tackle!

The past few days have been a little tough due to the big full moon tides but my clients are still
having fun on some good variety out there. Lots of spanish, sharks ladyfish, bluefish and redfish.

The Jacks Are Back !!!  This big jack crevalle came as a surprise in the last few minutes of the trip as my client
Randy French hooked up and was holding on for dear life as it almost spooled the reel and took all of the line.
The funny thing is that we were fishing for redfish and sharks on the bottom and thought at first it was just a
shark or a big sting ray.  After a 20 minute minute battle on a light spinning rod we got a glimpse of the fish and
was amazed that it was a big jack! We snapped a few pic's and released the big girl that I would say was pushing
close to 30 pounds!

I enjoyed a a few days off this past weekend to recharge my batteries and I couldn't wait to get
back out on the water and chase some fish. I will say the bite was a little tough today due to the
big tides but my clients still managed to catch some nice fish on the morning and afternoon trips.
Pictured above David Walker and his Wife Jacky with the fish of the day for sure!!

It was such a pretty day I took the Egret out about 6 miles and got my clients on some monster
spanish mackerel on the light spinning tackle. We fished live bait on the surface and the hook ups
were amazing to watch as these big spanish hit the baits at 20 mph!

What a great day! One of my best redfish days in quite some time. This morning my client Brian Homan
and I fished the low incoming tide for redfish and got into some non stop action on big redfish 7-10 lbs.
and 1 monster 13lber pictured! We also caught several black tip and bonnet head sharks. Fun, Fun Fun!

The last two days have been perfect out there not to hot but the fishing sure has been hot
especially for the sharks! I have managed to find a few nice redfish and some good sized spanish
mackerel, bluefish and ladyfish as well.  I have been looking hard for some tarpon to show up
and can't wait to put one in the air!

6/6/11  Shark Week!
The last few days the light tackle shark fishing has been absolutely unreal! My clients have had the rods
doubled over with plenty of drag burning action with the majority of the catches being large  sharks.
We are also catching some nice spanish mackerel, ladyfish and bluefish as well. The shark in the video
above was a first time I have ever caught a shark on the surface lure in all my years fishing! Unreal!

Epic Conditions out there with calm winds and some nice fish the last few days. As you can see
the big spanish mackerel are here and are great sport on light tackle and are excellent eating fish as well.

6/1/11 Holy Mackerel!
It's that time of the year again and today was one of my best light tackle live bait trips that I
can remember! My clients Ray and Dave had already fished with me 2 other times this week and
I made sure we tried for different species of fish on each trip. I would say they hit a grand slam
this week. Our first trip was great as we fished for and caught a nice cobia a bunch of sharks.
There second trip we pulled out the light rods and caught some nice redfish on spinnerbaits and
also a bunch of nice sharks on ultra light tackle. After that trip I new they were hooked on fishing
with the light tackle so for the grand finally we went a few miles out and got into one of the best
live bait trips I have had in a long time. As soon as the bait hit the water the little spinning reels
were screaming! The fish of a day was big king caught by Dave on the lightest rod on the boat!

5/25-5/30  Pic's Of The Day!
The last few days my clients have had some excellent light tackle action on sharks, redfish and cobia.
The water is warming up fast and the kingfish, spanish and tarpon should be showing up any day.
Pictured above are some great shots of my clients  from the past few days.

This morning was an action packed father/son trip catching some nice redfish and bunch of huge bonnethead
sharks all on light spinning gear. I don't think we had more than 5 minutes of rest before another fish was on!

5/25/11 One Of Those Days!!
This was one of those days I have been waiting on for several reasons!!
1st I had an opening in my schedule on a perfect day to go after a cobia with my new fly rod and reel.
2nd, It just worked out that one of my best friends Trent Malprus was also free to go as well and join me.
3rd the fact that we caught 3 cobia and saw 5 in just 2 hours all on the fly turned out to be a great day!

We gave the redfishing a try this morning with some return clients of mine. Pictured above
Steven Pulliam with a nice redfish caught first thing in the morning. We missed several other
redfish and decided to finish the trip and try for cobia. We didn't get one but we caught a
bunch of 3 foot sharks that keep us busy until the very end.

Epic Glassy Conditions Finally!! Today was one of those days that comes only a few times during the
cobia run and my clients and I took full advantage of the perfect conditions and went 3 for 5 on cobia
sight fishing to them with a light spinning rod. Unfurtunatly we lost what would have been my biggest
cobia of the year that I am estimating to be close to 60 pounds! In a way I am glad the big girl got away
because I am sure she was full of roe as she was on her way into the river to drop those eggs. In the
last few minutes we caught a perfect keeper fish around 20 pounds so it ended up being a great trip!

It only took 10 minutes and we hooked up to this beast of a cobia pictured above early this morning!
What a great way to start the day catching my biggest cobia of the year so far. The big cobia happened
to eat two baits and Jonathan and his father Cliff battled the big fish together on two separate rods!
We boated the fish and both hooks were in the cobia's mouth. We stayed busy afterward catching a bunch
of sharks and lost a jumping black tip shark close to 80 pounds. What a great trip!

Red Fish In The Rapids! This is one of those things I don't know if I have ever witnessed before…?
My good buddy Byron and I went to a spot to have a little afternoon fun with the fly rods and were
blown away when we saw dozens of 20-30 pound redfish in a frenzy waiting for 8-10 inch  baitfish to
come there way. The video is amazing and the fish I ended up catching is my largest red ever on the fly!
