Hilton Head Island Fishing - Off The Hook Fishing Charters
6/21-23 Pic's Of The Day!
It's been Hot, Hot, Hot out there!!
The inshore and nearshore action has been red hot on the sandbars with plenty of good size spanish mackerel,
ladyfish, bluefish and several species of sharks ranging 2-5ft. Bob Martire and his father who have fished with me
already 3 times this week got into some really nice redfish (last pics) early this morning that were a good 5-12lbs.
What a day yesterday! To start the morning My client Rich Walp was trying to catch his first saltwater fish
on the fly. As I polled him down a flat looking for a school of a redfish a large bonnet head shark was cruising
the flat and I told him to cast to the shark and wham! the shark was on. Unfortunately the hook got fouled in
the sharks gills during the fight. Had the hook stayed in the sharks mouth it would have been a world record!!
He also ended up catching his first redfish and flounder on the fly. Not Bad!
Yesterday afternoon My client Fred Newman and his son had the trip of a lifetime with non stop action catching
black tip sharks and big spanish mackerel on the surface. The high light of the trip came as a surprise to me about
a hour into the trip Fred was holding his rod and yelled "Tarpon" I couldn't believe when I looked up and saw the 50
pound taron dancing in the air at a spot where a tarpon had not been hooked or caught in 20 years!! He fought the
tarpon for a hour on my lightest rod on the boat (watch the video!) His catch was one my all time light tackle fights!
